A Revolutionary Court in Iran has sentenced two people to 10 years each in jail on charges of spying for the United States and Israel, the judiciary spokesman said on Sunday without naming those convicted. "These two people were sentenced to 10 years in jail by the Revolutionary Court," Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei was quoted as saying by the Fars news agency. The announcement came as the world waits for news of Jason Rezaian, an Iranian-American reporter for the Washington Post who has been held for more than a year on espionage charges and whose final hearing took place earlier this month.

The Notting Hill Carnival, an annual two-day event, Europe's biggest street party, snakes through the streets on a five-kilometre parade route featuring steel bands and dancers in exotic carnival costumes, watched by crowds of revellersLondon's Notting Hill Carnival kicked off with a riot of colour despite grey skies on Sunday, in a celebration of Caribbean culture reputed as Europe's biggest street party. Performers on stilts and wearing bright pink wigs, and dancers in feathered headdresses and rainbow outfits entertained the crowds that packed the streets of west London. Sunday was Family Day, featuring a children's parade to the sound of varied music styles, while Carnival-goers tucked into Caribbean food such as jerk chicken on the sidelines.
