Democratic U.S. presidential candidate former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton speaks as Senator Bernie Sanders listens at the PBS NewsHour Democratic presidential candidates debate in MilwaukeeBy John Whitesides MILWAUKEE (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders clashed sharply in a debate on Thursday over their support for President Barack Obama, with Sanders accusing Clinton of "a low blow" after she compared him to Republicans. (AP Photo/Reed Saxon, File)LOS ANGELES (AP) — President Barack Obama is granting national monument status to nearly 1.8 million acres of scenic Southern California desert, a move the White House says will maintain in perpetuity the region's fragile ecosystem and natural resources, as well as provide recreational opportunities for hikers, campers, hunters and others.
