The family of a black Texas woman who was found dead in her jail cell after being arrested during a routine traffic stop filed a lawsuit against the police Tuesday. The family of Sandra Bland, 28, whom authorities say hanged herself on July 13, question the official account of her death and say the lawsuit is needed to get answers. "The reason that we filed a lawsuit today was because, candidly, we've been unable to get many of the answers that we've been asking for, for weeks," attorney Cannon Lambert told a news conference in Houston.
One of rock music's prominent couples, No Doubt's Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale of Bush, are divorcing after 13 years of marriage. Stefani, who with No Doubt brought new mainstream popularity to ska music in the 1990s, met Rossdale when touring with Bush, the British band whose style of alternative rock won over a particularly large audience in the United States. In a 2010 interview with Details magazine, Rossdale said he "threw a party in New Orleans just as an excuse to hang out with her" during the tour and that the two spent a tipsy night strolling the French Quarter.
