Iraqi forces faced tough resistance from the Islamic State group Tuesday as they attempted to enter the centre of Fallujah, where there were mounting fears for thousands of trapped civilians. A day after announcing a push into the jihadist stronghold, forces led by Iraq's elite counter-terrorism service had some way to go before retaking the city. After thrusting toward Fallujah from three directions on Monday, their biggest advance was from the south, where they pushed into the suburb of Naimiyah.
An Argentine tango dancer who made headlines for a sultry dance with US President Barack Obama has set a Guinness world record for tangoing on a platform suspended 60 meters (200 feet) in the air. Perched at eye level with the downtown Buenos Aires skyline, Mora Godoy took a whirl on a platform hanging mid-air beside the Argentine capital's famed Obelisk monument, setting a new record for tango dancing at height. Attached by harnesses, Godoy and a partner spun around the small square platform to the beats of a contemporary electronic tango number Monday night as Guinness Book of World Records representatives looked on.
