A Bosnian woman mourns over a newly dug grave in a memorial cemetery near Srebrenica on July 10, 2010, some 15 years after the mass killing of 8,000 Muslim men and boys by Bosnian Serb forces in July 1995The UN Security Council has postponed a vote recognising the Srebrenica massacre as genocide after Russia threatened to veto the draft text, even as Serbia's prime minister called for reconciliation 20 years after the slaughter. The vote -- led by Britain and which condemns the mass killing of 8,000 Muslim men and boys by Bosnian Serb forces in July 1995, the worst atrocity in Europe since World War II -- was delayed until Wednesday. Bosnian Serb leaders had lobbied Russia to block the draft UN resolution, arguing that it was "anti-Serb" because it focused on the killings in the final months of the bloody war 1992-1995 Bosnian war.

A stock investor reacts in front of a screen showing stock market movements in a brokerage house in ShanghaiChina's benchmark Shanghai stock index was down more than 4.5 percent by mid-morning on Wednesday, as additional government moves failed to shore up the tumbling market and contagion began to spread elsewhere. The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, slid 3.88 percent, or 74.99 points, to 1,857.84. The latest falls came despite the government announcing new measures to support the market, including allowing insurance companies to invest more assets in stocks and a programme to buy the shares of smaller companies.
