Hundreds of activists from both sides of the debate rallied in front of the Supreme Court building as the nine justices prepared to hear a case on one of the most divisive social issues in the United States. "Homo sex is a sin" and "Perverts are an abomination to God" were among the messages on signs brandished by opponents of gay marriage. Thousands of Americans had protested over the weekend in Washington, with some camping out in front of the court to ensure a seat in the courtroom come Tuesday.
