The memorial of slain 18 year-old Michael Brown Jr is seen in Canfield Green Apartments on March 4, 2015 in Ferguson, MissouriLawyers for Michael Brown's family said Thursday they are planning a civil case against the police officer who shot and killed the unarmed black teenager in Ferguson, Missouri last August. The announcement came a day after the US Justice Department said, after a lengthy civil rights investigation, that it would not prosecute officer Darren Wilson in the racially-charged case. "We are officially in a process of formulating a civil case that we anticipate will be filed very shortly on behalf of the family," lawyer Anthony Gray said in St Louis County, which includes Ferguson. "We feel, and we have always felt from the very beginning, that officer Darren Wilson did not have to shoot and kill Mike Brown, Jr in broad daylight in the manner that he did," Gray said.

Delta flight 1086 was landing at LaGuardia after a morning flight from Atlanta, the airline said. Images from local media showed the Delta plane on a snowy runway area with its nose smashed into a fence at the edge of Flushing Bay. The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board said it is investigating the incident at LaGuardia, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the operator of the three main airports serving the New York metropolitan area.
