Arapahoe High School in Centennial, just outside Denver, was put on lockdown as were other schools in the area, reports said. The Denver Post also cited reports of a fire at the school in Centennial, near the scene of last year's Aurora movie theater shooting that killed 12 people. Parents of students at the school were asked to gather at a nearby church, the Araphoe County Sheriff's department said on its Twitter feed. It is part of the Littleton school district, to which Columbine High School -- scene of the 1999 shooting by two students which killed 13 -- also belongs.
(Reuters) - Police were responding to reports of a shooting at a Colorado high school on Friday in which two people may have been wounded, local media reported. The Denver Post newspaper reported a shooting and a fire at Arapahoe High School in Centennial, Colorado, citing a dispatcher with the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office. Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson told the local ABC affiliate he believed there were two victims and that the shooter was still inside the school but gave no further details. The Arapahoe County Sheriff's office confirmed to Reuters that officers were at the school but declined to give further details.
