A detail of the Holy Shroud, the 14 foot-long linen revered by some as the burial cloth of Jesus, is seen as it goes on display during a preview for the press at the Cathedral of Turin, Italy, Saturday, April 18, 2015. A burqa-clad Afghan pedestrian walks past security personnel at the site of a suicide attack outside a bank in Jalalabad on April 18, 2015The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for a suicide attack Saturday that killed 33 people and wounded more than 100 others in eastern Afghanistan, President Ashraf Ghani said, in what appears to be the first major attack by the jihadists in the country. Ghani's government has repeatedly raised the ominous prospect of IS making inroads into Afghanistan, though the group that has captured swathes of territory in Syria and Iraq has never formally acknowledged having a presence in Afghanistan. The Taliban have seen defections to the group in recent months, with some self-styled IS insurgents voicing their disaffection with their one-eyed supreme leader Mullah Omar, who has not been seen since the 2001 US-led invasion of Afghanistan. The Taliban did not claim responsibility for the attack, Daesh (IS) claimed responsibility," Ghani said on a visit to northeastern Badakhshan province.

A view is seen of Baiji oil refineryBAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraqi forces regained control over most of Baiji refinery on Saturday, security officials said, reversing some gains by Islamic State militants who have gone on the offensive this week. The insurgents attacked Baiji refinery - which is Iraq's largest - a week ago, blasting through the security perimeter around the sprawling complex in northern Iraq and taking over several installations including storage tanks.
