Once every four years, the nation's eyes focus like laser beams on little, largely rural New Hampshire, which holds the first state primaries after the Iowa caucuses kick off the US presidential nomination process. The proud northeastern state, home to just 1.3 million people, sets the tone for the primaries -- and could whittle down a crowded Republican field as the arch-conservative Senator Ted Cruz and more mainstream candidates led by Senator Marco Rubio battle for second place behind frontrunner Trump.

A coalition of 27 US states are suing in a lower court to halt Obama's Clean Power Plan, and petitioned the Supreme Court to suspend its implementation until the case is resolvedThe US Supreme Court on Tuesday put on hold President Barack Obama's sweeping plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from coal-fueled power plants pending a legal challenge. A coalition of 27 US states is suing in a lower court to halt Obama's Clean Power Plan, and petitioned the Supreme Court to suspend its implementation until the case is resolved. Most of the states involved are run by Obama's Republican adversaries.

U.S. Army Sergeant Bergdahl leaves the courthouse after an arraignment hearing for his court-martial in Fort BraggThe U.S. Army Court of Criminal Appeals granted the stay after the government requested one, court documents showed. At a pretrial hearing in January, Captain Michael Petrusic said prosecutors expected to turn over thousands of classified documents to the defense before the trial, planned for Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Bergdahl’s attorney, Lieutenant Colonel Franklin Rosenblatt, said prosecutors had too much authority over which documents would be provided to the soldier's lawyers, hampering the defense's ability to prepare for his trial.
