Police used a sound cannon to disperse protesters, some of whom had moved closer to the construction area of the Dakota Access Pipeline, the subject of a months-long protest by Native Americans and their supporters. "There have been arrests made," said Dallas Goldtooth, a protester at the scene of the standoff, said in a Facebook post.

Twenty people were arrested in the United States on Thursday, while 32 individuals and five call centers in India have been charged, the department said in a statement. The defendants, including 24 people across nine U.S. states, were indicted by a grand jury in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
