Protesters gather along Broadway Avenue to protest the fatal shooting of an unarmed black man on Tuesday by officers in El Cajon(Reuters) - An unarmed black man was pointing a silver vape smoking device at police when officers shot and killed him in southern California, authorities said, triggering two nights of protests. Alfred Olango, a 38-year-old Ugandan immigrant who activists and friends described as mentally ill, was killed on Tuesday in the San Diego suburb of El Cajon. Two El Cajon police officers confronted Olango, whom callers to police said had been acting erratically and walking in traffic.

(Reuters) - Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has distanced himself from reports linking him with the England job after Sam Allardyce resigned on Tuesday but said managing the national side would be the "pinnacle" of his career. On Tuesday Allardyce, who was England manager for 67 days, quit after being secretly filmed by undercover Daily Telegraph reporters as he offered advice on how to "get around" rules on player transfers. England caretaker manager Gareth Southgate, Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe, Steve Bruce and Pardew have been linked to the role in the British media.
