Mayor Bloomberg will have to make budget cuts in order to keep city services up and running. The question is- how much? The people of this city are entitled to basic city services for which they pay very high taxes already. If the Mayor wants to maintain basic city services with less money available, how is he going to accomplish this feat?
Albany will not be able to help the city much, if at all, since it has a very severe budget deficit that Governor Cuomo is going to have to close, probably by reducing services also.
Our police, fire, sanitation people, and teachers are so very vital to this city, as well as the EMS. The Mayor should not reduce any of those vital departments- we need all of these employees.
How about reducing the bloated salaries of all of his staff? Let them struggle like all of the rest of us. New York City really has changed a lot over the last several years; more people are leaving the city for a better quality of life elsewhere. Who can blame them?
