Dennis is a 32-year-old Queens Village native who is quickly branching out into the music world singing hip hop gospel. “I haven’t experienced joy or happiness or anything until I started singing Gospel music,”he said.
As a teen, Dennis was part of multiple music groups. One of those, Tri-suhen, was offered a record deal, but Dennis – 13 years old at the time - quickly turned it down because the deal did not include the entire group. It was later that he realized his true calling.
“God protected me from getting drawn into that kind of scene,” said Dennis of the hardcore hip hop world. “Ever since then my music has gone to a different place.”
Now a devoted Christian, Dennis has been singing gospel for ten years, and ministers at Forgiveness Assembly Church in Queens Village.
Aside from singing, writing, and making music, Dennis is a gymnastics coach at the Cross Island YMCA and teaches hip hop dance there as well. He is also a full-time student at Medgar Evers College where he is studying business administration and management with the hopes of having his own businesses.
Dennis’ upcoming concert will be promoting his newest album Paper Heart. This is his second official album release. His music can be found on iTunes, CDBaby.com, and several Christian stores. He is also working on a live album in the summer which includes a song with reggae star and good friend Yami Bolo.
Dennis’ inspiration in life is his 14-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son, who follows in his father's footsteps, dancing and writing his own music. “They are the reasons I try to be a better person,” he said.
Dennis‘ goal is to enlighten the younger generation and lead them into a successful path. “I want to help the youth to make the right choices in life,” he said.
Jah Pierce held an album release party last Sunday, March 27.
