The woman, who had taken pain medication before, did not suffer any visible injuries, according to witnesses, but was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Medical Center.
She was headed northeast on Grand Avenue in a white 1995 Saturn when she ran a red light and swerved into the school’s fence at 72nd Place.
The light had just turned green and Rob Murphy’s car was at the intersection inching up when the woman’s car grazed his front bumper, taking his license plate off.
He was headed to a friend’s house when the woman brushed past him.
“I had just taken my foot off the brake," he said. "If I would have inched more, she would have hit me.”
According to police, no other injuries were reported.
