Government shouldn't mess with fast food toys

Dear Editor:

We already have subway ads sponsored by the city Health Department to combat the excessive calories contained in sugary drinks and public posting of calorie counters in restaurants.  There is no coercion on customers purchasing fast food for children.

Everyone is already aware of both calories and sugar content.  High obesity rates of children have just as much to do with the sedentary life style of many, who spend more time on i-pods and home computers than playing sports or exercising.

What's next, restrictions on those selling ice cream, pizza and other fast foods?

Our economic and civil liberties prosper best when government stays out of the bedroom, marketplace and our stomachs!  Consumers vote with their feet in purchasing what desired and live with the consequences of their actions.  The "politically correct" Health Food Police including Councilman Leroy Comrie need to be put on a diet!

Sincerely,

Larry Penner

Great Neck
