Former Mayor David Dinkins and NYJTL President and CEO Deborah MacFarlane Antoine presented awards at The New York Junior Tennis League’s (NYJTL) Spring Kickoff Celebration on Wednesday, April 27, at IS 204 in Astoria.

The event marks the start of NYJTL’s Spring Community Tennis Program Season, as well as honors individuals from all five boroughs that have made a difference in their communities.

More than 300 attendees honored award recipients and celebrate the 40th Anniversary of NYJTL. SNY network sports broadcaster Michelle Yu served as master of ceremonies.

Dinkins presented James R. O’Neill, president of Sports & Arts in School Foundation, with the Changing Lives Award for his many years of commitment and dedication to helping to provide free tennis and educational programs to the countless young lives of underserved children in New York City.

Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke, who has been a great supporter of NYJTL programs and the New York City community, was presented with the Public Service Award. Also honored were several principals and educators from public schools across the city.

it's always such a pity when somebody is kicked off the season... But I hope that the best will become a winner!
