On Tuesday, Mike D'Agostino pitched a complete game and the Crusaders beat Bishop Ford 3-1. It was J.P. Lipovac who took the mound on Wednesday and defeated Holy Cross 10-2, which included a clutch two-run homer off the bat of Joe Gangi. The last game of the four-game stretch featured the outstanding pitching of Jose Urena. Urena threw a complete game shutout as the Crusaders defeated St.Francis Prep 6-0.
Great pitching and defense combined with the timely hitting of Robert Mongiori, Dan Restrepo, Anthony Merchan, and Jonathan Busardo have been keys to the team's success. The team started out 1-6, but now have a 8-7 record.
Of special note is Mike Guglielmi, who has caught the last four games with a bad ankle and a heavy heart. His grandmother passed away just before the start of the four games. The Guglielmi family, with the help of other parents, made sure that their son made all the games and attended the services for his grandmother.
“It just shows what a classy family the Guglielmi's are by thinking of the team in their time of mourning.,” said Coach Nick Melito. “The players and coaches appreciate their efforts, and it will never be forgotten.

Through your mourning you still had time for your responsibilites. Mature, to say the least! You've grown to be quite a man and God put you here to lead others. I will be praying for the happy repose of your grandma's soul and for strength and understanding for you and your family.
Love and miss you,
Jannie
