On Sunday, May 22, about three hours apart and on opposite sides of Queens, two pitchers from Queen of Peace in Flushing tossed no-hitters for their CYO teams.

For the 3rd Grade Sub-Novice team, Michael Bardales struck out 12 on his way to a 4-0 no-hitter victory over St. Virgilius at the BCAC Field in Broad Channel. Gavin Budhram hit a homer to pace the offense, improving the team’s record to 6-0-1.

Later in the afternoon, Kevin Gregov struck out 15 while not allowing a hit to lead the 4th Grade Pee-Wee team to a 4-1 win over Sacred Heart Bayside at Hempstead Field in Bellerose. The lone Sacred Heart run was the result of a walk and errors. A three-run rally in the third inning highlighted by four consecutive doubles by Marc Baigorria, Derick Toledo, Samuel Goderich and Tristan Ferreira gave Kevin all of the support he would need. The Pee-Wee team record is now 8-1.

Congratulations to both Michael and Kevin on their no-hitters. They are very talented pitchers. This is just the beginning.
