Glendale Kiwanis President Kenny Dunn said he is committed to the club's pledge “to help make a difference in the community.”

Dunn grew up in the Maspeth area and now lives in Glendale. He works for the Keller Williams Landmark II real estate agency, and spends his free time serving his community.

Dunn became Glendale Kiwanis president at the start of the club's year in October. In his one-year term, Dunn picked the Glendale Ridgewood Youth Council and the Hour Children nonprofit organization as his two priorities.

Dunn was previously involved with Hour Children through his involvement in real estate, he said.

“They help children of incarcerated women,” he said. “They help the women, when they come out, reunite with society and they bring their children to visit them in jails.”

In addition to Kiwanis, Dunn also serves the community with the Ridgewood Moose Lodge, the Knights of Columbus Monsignor Sherman Council on Myrtle Avenue, and the board of directors for the Long Island Board of Realtors.

In his year as Glendale Kiwanis president, Dunn said he foresees his major obstacles to be raising money and members.

“The biggest obstacle would be the economy,” he said. “It's getting harder and harder to raise funds to give away.”

In addition, “We're looking for new members at all times,” Dunn said. “If you're not growing, you're dying.”
