I would like to thank the students and staff at Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood for a wonderful evening last Friday night.
The school hosted a Winter Wonderland for students and parents from P.S. 153, 71 and 81. There were many events for the children, such as ornament making, cookie decorating, and face painting. There was even a Santa you could take your own photos with.
All of these events were carried out by the students, and they were cordial, friendly, and helpful. The students get a bad reputation in this neighborhood, but anyone who thinks only “gangbangers” attend that school should go to these events and meet the students that I do. They would see that the students who attend this school are getting a very good education and learning to give back to the community.
I plan to send my daughter to that school when it is time. I didn't go to a “specialized” high school, which is the trend now, and I think I got a very good education at Grover Cleveland. After Friday night, I see the quality of education that I got has not diminished.
