Several local residents complained of problems with worsening flooding conditions in the area, particularly along Maurice Avenue in Maspeth.
A member from the flood litigation task force said he believed that though DEP had worked on cleaning the catch basins in the area, there needed to be improvements involving sewer structures and engineering.
Since 2007, members said DEP has promised to hire an engineer to further investigate the problem in the area, but did not do so.
