The van, which was branded with the logo of the World Journal, was parked at Union Street and 32nd Avenue. The World Journal is the largest Chinese newspaper in North America and headquartered in Whitestone.
The store front, located at 31-32 Union Street, is the future home of the Queens Public Library Mitchell-Linden branch.
"It is truly frightening to see this kind of racial intolerance in our community of Queens," said Assemblywoman Grace Meng. "Queens holds one of the most diverse communities in the country and this kind of behavior should not be tolerated. The people responsible for this act should be penalized and an example should be made. It is unacceptable."
