The weather was beautiful for his day to enjoy. So to all of our loving fathers that provide for us, protect us and support us throughout our lives; to those fortunate enough to still have their fathers, and to those of us whose fathers have passed, we love you, and every day is Father’s Day.
Can you believe this weather? You don’t know what you’ll wake up to. Maybe a summer day, a hurricane with driving rain, a wind storm, or maybe all of the above in one day. Hopefully our weather will stop being a daily surprise and even out for the remaining days in June.
This especially for our June brides and outdoor graduation ceremonies. As to our June brides and for graduation and birthday parties, please consider our new catering hall, Woodhaven Manor. This catering hall being located right here in our Woodhaven Business Improvement District on Jamaica Avenue.
This is a beautiful venue for bridal receptions and parties of any occasion. Woodhaven Manor with their attentive accommodating staff and good food and gracious hosts, Mandeep and his lovely wife Sandy, is truly a welcome addition to our avenue. As I stated regarding our party, it was really a nice enjoyable evening at our local catering hall.
I know you have noticed the new stores opening in our WBID and that we have a very low vacancy rate. This is because, even in this economy, small businesses are coming to our Woodhaven’s Jamaica Avenue. Be proud Woodhaven of our shopping strip.

Testimony was heard by the Landmarks Preservation Commission regarding the landmarking of the Forest Park Carousel. The testimony was positive and supportive of landmarking. On June 25, a vote will be taken on whether or not to grant landmark status. Please have some good thoughts for this vote for Landmarking to protect and preserve our carousel for our children and theirs for posterity.
Finally, very sad news. Frank Ranieri the lead singer of the Four Pops has passed away. I can remember his beautiful voice at our Wonderful Woodhaven Street Festivals through the years, singing doo-wop music. Frank, you will be missed.
So let’s see Woodhaven fly our American flags every day above all others and wear your lapel flag pins proudly. May God bless our armed forces and our disabled veterans, and may God bless America.
