I have just read that disgraced ex-governor Eliot Spitzer is ahead in the polls for the position of comptroller, which I find most disturbing.
Any elected position is a job that serves the good of the people and those wanting to serve must do so with a good record of proven citizenship. Now that being said, I feel that the person running for such a position needs to possess qualities like good moral character, good personal conduct and must show respect toward family and community.
Well, I feel Eliot Spitzer has failed on all counts and is not worthy of my vote. I expect that our elected officials should be held at a higher standard and must demonstrate those qualities that are above reproach. If we lower our standards and elect Eliot Spitzer, I say “shame on us!"
