The Long Island City Partnership hosted a networking event with the Manhattan skyline as a backdrop on top of Z Hotel last week. Attendees mingled over food and drinks, discussing the changing landscape of business in Long Island City.

“I’m out here because we’re brand new in Long Island City,” said Jonah Levy, project director for Holographic Arts at 39-31 29th Street. “Events like this are really important because it lets you know about the faces and the names that are around here.”

Over 100 people attended the event.

“I guess the thing that sets us apart is that we always have good events,” said Debra Mesloh, director of Business Expansion and Retention for the partnership. “Everyone there was networking their little hearts out.”

Partnership member Doris Suda said she noticed one thing in particular that was different about the event that took place last week.

“There are less bankers and more small businesses that are in the neighborhood trying to grow,” said Suda, an event coordinator at Riverview Restaurant and Lounge. “We all have the same issues, getting to know our neighbors and growing together.”
