After being forced to cancel in 2012 due to Hurricane Sandy, more than 50,000 runners finished the 2013 ING New York City Marathon on Sunday, the biggest field ever at the event and the largest marathon in history.

Of the 50,740 runners representing 109 countries and all 50 states that started the race, 50,304 crossed the finish line. Prischa Jeptoo of Kenya led the women’s field with a time of 2:25:-7, while fellow Kenyan Geoffrey Mutai led the men with a time of 2:08:24.

Jeptoo also won the 2012−2013 World Marathon Majors title with 75 points and earned the $500,000 winner-take-all prize.
