Megafu was recognized by the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) as its Student-Athlete of the Month for November after leading the St. Joseph’s College men’s basketball team in scoring and rebounding during the month.
Megafu put up averages of 15.0 points per game and 8.8 boards per game. Last year’s AD3I Rookie of the Year picked up where he left off last season scoring in double figures in all five games for St. Joseph’s.
Megafu finished the month shooting an efficient 54.7 percent from the floor, dishing out 1.4 assists per game, coming up with 1.8 steals per game and swatting away 2.4 shots per game to fill out the stat sheet.
The sophomore takes home Student-Athlete of the Month honors for the second time in his career having earned Student-Athlete of the Month in December of 2012.
And for his outstanding efforts on the hardwood in helping lead the St. Joseph’s basketball to a victory over NYU-Poly, junior David Louison (Brooklyn/St. Edmund Prep) was named the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) and Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) men’s basketball Player of the Week.
Louison, St. Joseph’s leading scorer on the year, recorded his fourth double-double of the season in a 79-54 win over the Blue Jays on Tuesday. The junior finished with 17 points on 5-of-10 (50 percent) shooting from the floor while securing 11 rebounds.
Louison is now averaging 14.1 points per game and is second on the team corralling 8.7 boards per night.
And last but not least, senior Kelly McNamee (Glendale/Mary Louis) was named to the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) inaugural All-Independent Women’s Tennis Team after helping lead St. Joseph’s College to a third place finish in the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships (HVIAC), their highest finish since 2009.
The senior spent the season splitting time between the No. 1 and No. 2 singles positions. She picked up her first singles win of the year at Lehman College earning the Lady Bears lone win of the match at No. 2 singles.
McNamee was also an AD3I All-Independent and HVIAC All-Conference selection in cross country and has been a threat on the hardwood this season as well, leading the St. Joseph’s women’s basketball team with 13.7 points per game.
