After two months, the Daily News Golden Gloves slugged its way into the final round.

The two night championship round, held at the WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden, pitted boxers from across the tri-state area against each other for one of amateur boxing's most storied prizes.

Highlights from Thursday night included the 119-pound women championship, in which defending champion Christina Cruz knocked off 2007 champion Alexsis Asher.

Also in the heavyweight open bout, Ngoli Okafor overcame exhaustion to defeat Abdelghani Bousmah.

Friday night's highlights included a spectacular fight between Jamaica fighters Leon Falconer and De'Vaugh Lee. In a match that went back and forth, Falconer, with the crowd chanting his name, rallied from a shaky early third round to defeat Lee.

Falconer, a fighter from Gleason's Gym, chalked the win up to preparation.

“I'm in the gym training everyday,” he said. “And I stay away from girls.”
