Dear Editor:

Hopefully, New York City will be seeing an end to the racist policy of stop and frisk. Maybe with new administration we will see a change in its sexist version.

Prostitutes, who are often in coercive life-threatening situations, get arrested again and again and put back in those same situations. It seems that instead of treating prostitutes as criminals vs. treating them as victims, we should instead arrest the pimps and fine johns several thousands per arrest as well.

The more humane and cost-effective (yes, social policy can be both humane and cost effective) policy would be to take those funds and put them into programs and provide services that would allow prostitutes a chance to leave "the life."

In the constant war on women today regarding rape, abortion rights, etc., this is one battle that can be easily won.

Sincerely,

Stew Frimer
