On Saturday, September 27, Maspeth’s Troop 312 from St. Stanislaus elevated one of its scouters to the rank of Eagle. Stephen Shklanko, who has amassed more than 30 merit badges, was sworn in at the event.

Troop scoutmaster Bruce Campbell said that Stephen is a man who has taken scouting to a new level in this troop. The only other member to achieve Eagle was in 1986 and he thinks Stephen is the first of a few now energized to reach the highest level.

Shklanko is a recent graduate of the Civic Leadership Academy High School in Elmhurst and is currently enrolled at LaGuardia Community College. “Our troop might not be big in numbers,” he said, “but we have a solid bunch of guys.”
