Dear Editor,

John Boehner’s resignation as speaker of the House after Pope Francis addressed Congress may be just a coincidence, however many of us think the holiness of the Pope may have influenced his decision.

Boehner, on the other hand, did not have control over the extremists in the House; these extremists were put in by the Tea Party voters. Many of the Tea Party members don’t believe in climate change or compromise on issues that would move the country forward.

It seems the Tea Party lawmakers are stuck in a bizzarro-America. They are ideologues destroying the Republican Party. Right now their darling, Donald Trump the Birther, is like a bully cancer suffocating real possible would-be Republican leaders.

We are witnessing the fall of the Republican Party; it is like the fall of the Soviet Union.
