An American flag was burned on Staten Island in front of a police precinct to protest the death of a 16-year-old boy. I find that extremely disturbing.
Our American flag represents all the freedoms we enjoy today, and to burn it is pure sacrilege, an insult to all those who have died preserving what we all hold dear, and that includes those that desire to burn the flag.
I urge Congress to pass an amendment to the Constitution that makes burning the American flag illegal and punishable with fine and possible imprisonment. Sincerely,
Frederick R. Bedell, Jr.
