Let's get physical, politicos

It seems like when our city elected officials aren't busy making laws and cutting ribbons and instituting bag fees, there are out there getting their game on.

We've been coming across more and more photos recently of our local politicos getting physical, and we though we would share a few of them with you.

Apparently the City Council holds an annual summer outing, and this year it was held at Kingsborough College. (We guess our invitation got lost in the mail.) There was all sorts of fun activities, including beach volleyball! Here's a shot from the event of Councilman Antonio Reynoso running on the beach while Mayor Bill de Blasio guards the net.

And then this past weekend, Councilman Carlos Menchaca hosted the first annual “Unity in the Community” basketball tournament in Red Hook, a tournament of friendly games between the NYPD and youth in the community to build relationships. And while the games were good natured, it looks like Menchaca was all business going up for this shot.

But by far our absolute most favorite photo comes courtesy of the cover of a recent issue of the Woodside Herald, and it shows Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer trying out some new courts in Woodside, as well the councilman going up for the block on some participant in the Sports and Arts in Schools Foundation.

We would get on the councilman for rejecting some kid in what was supposed to be a simple photo op trying out some new basketball courts he helped fund, but truth be told that looks like all ball, so we aren't saying anything. Don't bring that garbage into JVB's house!
