On Wednesday, December 7, the U.S. Columbarium at Fresh Pond Crematory and Kiwanis Queens West Foundation hosted a holiday cheer and fundraiser event that benefitted the Long Island City charitable organization, Hour Children.

Hour Children offers comprehensive services to incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women which allows them to rejoin the community, reunify with their families, and build healthy and independent lives. Community-based programs include supportive housing, employment training, and licensed daycare while in-prison programming includes advocacy, visitation services and mental health support.

The evening featured a performance by singer Lanasia White, a holiday tree lighting and Christmas sing-a-longs. Sister Tesa Fitzgerald CSJ, executive director of Hour Children, also gave a presentation of the organization’s programming. Kiwanis clubs from around the borough were in attendance.
