Leading 55-53 with just under three minutes left in the fourth quarter, the St. John’s women’s basketball team outscored Harvard, 7-4, down the stretch to come away with a 62-57 victory in the Second Round of the WNIT.

The Red Storm advances to the WNIT Round of 16 for the fourth time in program history and will take on Michigan.

“I thought we started out great,” coach Joe Tartamella said. “We had to play some lineups we haven’t had to play all year with some early foul trouble.”

Aaliyah Lewis led the offense with 16 points and eight assists. With her second assist early in the contest, Lewis became just the fifth player in school history to dish out 200 or more dimes in a single season.

The 5-5 guard has handed out 206 assists this season, good enough for fifth on the program’s single-season list.

St. John’s continues WNIT play in Ann Arbor on Thursday. The Wolverines are led by former St. John’s head coach Kim Barnes Arico, who amassed a 176-134 record in 10 seasons in Queens.
