Beyond the spectacular display of the cherry blossom trees, the festival produced more than 60 performances, demonstrations and exhibits to showcase traditional and contemporary Japanese culture.
Newcomers to the festival included Tokyo indie rock duo Uhnellys as well as J-Music Ensemble, whose music is anime-inspired jazz. The festival certainly did not disappoint when it came to fashion. Along with the Parasol Society Fashion Show, the Eighth Annual Sakura Matsuri Cosplay Fashion Show wowed the crowd.
Other festival highlights included Japanese art, such as origami displays from Taro’s Origami Studio, as well as a Japanese market and tea ceremonies.
