After concluding his career with First Team Skyline All-Conference honors, Nicholas LoPrinzi has been named the Skyline Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

LoPrinzi, Howard Beach native and product of St. Francis Prep, helped St. Joseph’s College to a 9-9 record in league play and a 14-19 mark overall, suffering eight losses by just one run.

The Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award is presented to the first-team All-Conference performer who carries the highest grade point average for the semester in which the student-athlete competes.

LoPrinzi was selected as the first-team catcher after batting .308 for the Bears, scoring 23 runs and driving in 29.

He concluded his senior campaign on a 17-game reached base safely streak and defensively he committed just one error in 157 chances.

The recent St. Joseph’s graduate finished as the program leader in games played and started (154) and second all-time in at bats (525), hits (181) and runs batted in (113).
