Police arrested three men on Monday for damaging more than 40 headstones at Cypress Hills Cemetery on August 14.

Police say the suspects not only knocked them over, but also spray-painted racist and derogatory comments, many directed at Asian Americans. They also added graffiti tags, including Damo, Dedey and Blur.

According to the charges the men also entered the memorial Abbey mausoleum and broke the marble stones on the front of about 15 burial vaults.

After an investigation, the police arrested the suspects, identified as 21-year-old Edward Evseevv of Richmond Hill, 21-year-old Mark Barrancos of Forest Hills, and 22-year-old Bruno Camacho of Elmhurst.

They were all charged with burglary, cemetery desecration and aggravated harassment. They were also charged with criminal mischief and criminal trespass as hate crimes.
