Do you enjoy the classic yule log video that is played every holiday season? Well, comedian and actress Lauren LoGiudice has a twist for you this year.

The Queens native has come up with a series of videos, “Yule Log with Friends,” featuring characters who sit alone in front of the fireplace doing “normal weird things we all do when we are by ourselves.”

Each of the ten offbeat characters are played by LoGiudice herself. Her television and film work includes “Veep,” “When Harry Tries to Marry,” and “Beautiful Something.” She has solo shows including “Queens Girls” and is a Moth StorySLAM Champion.

The “Yule Log with Friends” series is a collaboration between LoGiudice, director of photography Kelly Burkhardt, line producer Sherry Leszkowicz, and makeup artist Susan Carabello.

The videos are meant to be contemplative, real-time theater serving as a background piece as you go through your own holiday activities such as trimming your tree, baking cookies or writing out your Christmas cards.

"Admit it, we all do it. That annual search for the perfect streaming yule log video has become a holiday tradition," said LoGiudice. "Sure, there are plenty of fireplaces out there that will offer you Christmas lights, and trees and stockings. But where are the people?”

“Isn't connecting with other humans what the holidays are all about?” She added. “So I set out to create a holiday yule log video that makes viewers feel like they have a new friend in the room with them.”

The characters range from Jonathan the science geek to Estrella the parenting expert to Amelia Sincere of Real Real Estate. But, as a special ode to her hometown, there is a special Queens character. Marie from Queens is LoGiudice’s chance to poke fun at some of the stereotypes that have long followed Queens girls. The 18-minute video shows the Marie character Facebook stalking frenemies, taking the perfect selfie and doing her nails, all while rocking animal print leggings and teased hair.

“These are characters that I developed over the years on the alternative performance arts stages of New York and San Francisco, so it feels like celebrating the holiday with old friends,” she said.

In total, the ten videos are nearly three hours long and all take place on the same cozy setting. You can stream all of the videos on Youtube by searching “Yule Log with Friends” or visiting www.YuleLogWithFriends.com.
