The Queens College women’s swimming and diving team will begin the 2018-19 season on a high note, as the Knights were ranked 23rd in the Collegiate Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Preseason Top 25 poll.

The poll placed the Knights as the only team from the East Region of Division II swimming in the top-25 ballot. Ten-time national champion Drury University was placed atop the poll with defending national champion Queens University of Charlotte slotted fourth.

Last year, five school records were set by the Knights with four of those marks coming at the season-ending Metropolitan Conference Championships.

Queens will return a majority of its swimmers from those record-setting races, including Jennifer Arana-Perez who has a hand in all five marks including a 100-yard butterfly time of 59.23 seconds at the Metro Championships.

The senior will lead the charge for QC this year along with fellow record-holders Anna Lee, Megan Dawes and Gabriela Almeida, while the list of returners also includes Amanda Giordano and Michaela Raphael among others.

Queens will open competition on November 8 at 6 p.m., hosting a tri-meet that will include Baruch and Adelphi. The three teams met a season ago, with QC picking up a win over Baruch but falling in a competitive dual with Adelphi.
