Dozens of authors and local bookworms attended the first annual Maspeth Book Festival on Saturday at the Martin Luther School.

The event, organized by local author Carl Paolino, brought together novelists and writers from all genres.

Attendees spoke to the authors, sat in on panels and had their books signed.

Among the authors in attendance were Alex Shvartsma, Ian Randal Strock, Robert Mladinich, Philip Messing, Bernard Whalen and Peter Wood.

The Friends of the Maspeth Library also made their presence known at the book festival.
