Women win, men lose as St. Joe's host sister school from Long Island

Kelly O'Donnell, Emma Kiley, Jamie Provino, and Lauren Quesada all reached double-digit scoring to guide the St. Joseph's College (14-9, 12-6 Skyline) basketball team to an 82-66 victory against sibling school St. Joseph's College (Long Island) from The Hill Center on Saturday.

O'Donnell, Kiley, and Deserae Sequeira all recorded double-doubles in the Bears' third consecutive victory. O'Donnell, a Brooklyn native and St. Edmnd Prep product led the team with 24 points while collecting 13 rebounds.

Kiley dropped 19 points, pulled down 14 boards. The Archbishop Molloy grad also blocked five shots, while Provino poured in a season-high 18 points on five dimes.

Quesada finished the game with 14 points, seven rebounds and a pair of assists, and Sequeira logged her second double-double of the season with 14 rebounds and 11 assists.

The Bears were scheduled to head to the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Tuesday with a chance to clinch home-court advantage in the first round of the Skyline Basketball Championships.

Men fall

The St. Joseph's College men (8-15, 4-10) also hosted sibling rival SJC Long Island (6-15, 1-12) as part of a doubleheader.

The Bears fell, 68-64, for their third-straight loss as SJC Long Island picked up their first win in Skyline play despite a career-high 20 points from sophomore Chris Mikos on excellent 9-12 shooting. He added six boards, three assists, and two steals.

Senior forward Stephane Etheart contributed a 17-point, 11-rebound double-double off the bench on 8-13 field-goal shooting, while his brother and fellow St. Francis Prep grad Sebastien Etheart chipped in seven points and as many assists. The final road game of the regular season for the Bears will be at Mount Saint Vincent on Tuesday.
