Dear Editor,

Both Governor Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio are facing a health crisis like never before. The governor has been pragmatic and practical in his approach and policies, cooperating with the president.

The mayor has used every opportunity to condemn the president and rebuke the federal government. It is a disgrace that he is taking advantage of a health emergency to fire off his political views when the city is facing a severe crisis.

I am not a Democrat, but do commend the governor for his far more professional, mature and sensible efforts to combat the coronavirus epidemic.

Simultaneously, the mayor is taking shots at the president instead of mutually working with his administration to deal with what is perhaps the most serious longterm issue the city has ever been confronted with.

Sincerely,

Edward Riecks
