Martin Luther announces scholarship winners

Martin Luther School in Maspeth has announced this year’s high school scholarship winners.

Obed Figueroa, director of Recruiting and Admissions, explained applicants had to take the MLS Entrance and submit to family interviews. Figueroa mentioned that the highest percentage of new applicants came from the Maspeth and Ridgewood area, and 39 percent of applicants were currently students at the school.

“We are proud and privileged by the number of students that took our test,” said executive director Jim Regan. “It really is the first step in a high school career.”

The awards range from partial payments to full scholarships.

• Reiner Geiling, Ivy Jiang, Tyler Leon and Lars Sellers received the Founding Fathers scholarship.

• Panagiotis Georgiou, Aron Lin, Valentina Moyses and Jocelin Zhuo received the Board of Directors Scholarship.

• Samantha Adams, Ava Biegner, Gabriel Blanco, Thalianara Cotter, Melanie Gaviria, Kameren Jenkins, Kyrillos Nashed, Maritza Rodriguez, Tara Rodriguez and Christopher Wright received the STREAMS Scholarship.

• Leah Durante and Micheal Kwasnicki received Athlete Scholar Scholarship.

• Joel Doble, Sarah Johnson, Lily Kisseur and Jayda Spiers received the Cougar Scholarship.

•Gaetano Mancini and Theodoros Mitritzikos, Jr. received the Faculty Scholarship.

•Giselle Alvarado received the Jill Rudzewick Scholarship.

• Olivia Anzueta, Hajrah Aslam, Thomas Black IV, Daniel Cabrera, Jadiel Castillo, Levi Chapman, Abigail Daniels, Felicia D’Antonio, Gianvanni Davis, Maxwell Davis, Daniel Durante, James Gaffney, Morgan Greenaway-Davis, Chen Guo, Kameren Jenkins, Tyler Kohler, Marley Lawson, Aron Lin, Anthony Marsilia, Vittorio Morisi, Sergio Palmeri, Jacob Rodriguez, Maritza Rodriguez, Lar Sellers, Kyle Sinanan and Christopher Wright received the MLS Graduate Scholarship.

• Everette McKeller received the Benefactors Award.
