Dear Editor:

With Saint John’s Queens Hospital’s commitment to advancing healing with respect, integrity and compassion to all who come to us, we are very concerned about the letter you received regarding an unfortunate experience by one of our patients.

We are currently investigating this matter thoroughly to identify any mistakes and violations of hospital policy. In addition, we are inviting Mr. and Mrs. Ebersole to meet with us to discuss this serious situation, Administration has met with all senior staff and nursing staff and prepared an action plan to include: re-training employees, revising standard operating procedures to improve patient care and satisfaction and, where necessary, terminating employees who deviate from the high standard of care we strive to provide.

These steps have been taken to preserve the environment of healing at St. John’s Queens Hospital. We continue our commitment to working in partnership with our patients and their families towards performance improvement.
