Hermes, who ran in the New York City Half-Marathon this past Sunday, did so as a charity runner for the American Cancer Society. Hermes, who recently lost a family member to cancer, raised a whopping $1,175 to aid in cancer research and treatment.
And Hermes, who said she couldn’t imagine herself running in a half-marathon prior to taking on the challenge, finished the 13-mile trek in a respectable 2 hours and 10 minutes, (a whole two hours faster than this reporter could’ve done even on his best day.)
So, for helping to kick cancer’s butt, we offer a thank you to this week’s athlete of the week: Lisa Hermes.
