State Senator Hiram Monserrate has been found not guilty of felony assault but guilty of a lesser offense of third degree assault. The Queens Democrat gets to keep his seat, at least for now.
I find Monserrate's actions appalling and believe he should spend some time in jail. Furthermore, I believe Monserrate should also be removed from office for this assault against a defenseless woman. In my opinion, any man that is a real man should never hit a woman.
