This year, for the third time, Daylight Savings time will be in effect on Halloween with more daylight and less night. In this way it will be “lighter longer” and safer for all of our little and not-so-little “Trick or Treaters.” So enjoy Halloween in our little Woodhaven, stay safe and make sure your mom or dad checks all of the goodies that you collect.
This past week was so busy, for after the Wonderful Woodhaven Street Festival, the high stress level of my staff and I finally starts to even out. This event is so huge and takes so much out of us that when it’s over, well it's time to party!
The first party was with the Woodhaven Senior Citizen Center members. What a group of good-natured fun ladies and gentlemen. Lisa and I danced and sang and enjoyed a beautiful warm sunny day with those great seniors. Now we have to make sure that these seniors get into the Woodhaven Richmond Hill Ambulance Corps so that they once again can meet in Woodhaven. Thank you Eleanor for inviting us.
Then on Saturday night, the partying continued when I attended our State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo’s Halloween Party, which was really a family night with Joe, his lovely wife Dawn, and his daughters in costume. There were children, fathers, mothers, and grandparents all with different costumes dancing and enjoying themselves. It was so good to see these young families having fun together. It was a great evening.
Then Sunday, I judged the Halloween costumes at the Forest Park Dog Run. Little and big dogs had on very creative costumes. There was a scarecrow, a combat dog, a zebra, a princess, a little Yorkie dressed as a surgeon, and an Irish Wolfhound race car. It was a very happy day. Thank you Charlotte.
Then I attended the Wonderful Annual WORKS Little League Luncheon. I was so honored to be there with all of the hardworking WORKS Board Members, Terry, coaches, and the many wonderful youngsters and their parents. This WORKS group is so important to our communities. The channeling of their young energies into playing baseball under the leadership of these dedicated members is such an asset to our communities.
What a very great uplifting enjoyable week! It just proves what I always have stated: Woodhaven is truly blessed with their leaders, with their organizations, but most of all with their residents.
May God bless our armed forces who are patriots and our protectors, may God bless our leaders, and most of all may God bless our America.
