Against Aqueduct plans

Dear Editor:

State Senator Joseph Addabbo whines that the Aqueduct that is slow in getting off the ground is due to delays in Albany. The legislator talks about the “local economic benefit that comes with the starting of the project.”

I wonder if he realizes that his local constituents, middle class people, are going to be throwing away their money to fund the project.

The millions upon millions of dollars that will flow to the state and corporate moguls that are promoting this project will pull an awful lot of money from the pockets of Joe’s Ozone Park constituents.

Nobody can beat the slot machines. The suckers who will run to Aqueduct and throw their money away could much better use the funds on their own personal wellbeing and the wellbeing of their families. In the end, Joe’s constituents will have the money pulled out of their pocket to fund the State of New York budget shortfalls.

Better off, Joe, if you and your colleagues in the state legislature spent less money and did not need the funds from gambling and your constituents to pad your legislative proposals.

Uncle Barnum once said, “there’s a sucker born every minute.” I am sure a good many of them come from Joe Addabbo’s senate district.

Sincerely,

Kenneth Lloyd Brown
